There are some laws and rules that regulate content publication on the Internet. They are related to accessibility for disabled people. In this page you can find the rules and recommendations for institutional web sites.

Specifically, according to the Royal Decree 1494/2007, from the 31st day of December 2008, the web sites of public organizations may satisfy the Spanish Regulation UNE 139803:2004.

The Web Office has created a style guide which summarizes the different regulations and establishes minimum requirements that every Institutional Website must follow. The styles guide also advices about making the access to information easier and meeting the web design standards.

Design standards and accessibility

According to the Spanish regulations, the public organizations’ web sites may satisfy the netsurfing and accessibility standards for disabled people. These standards are set by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) and they can be found in this web page:

Assignment of domain name

The progressive increase of sites and web servers requires some guidelines in order to order the domain name assignment on the Internet in the University of Granada’s net y the following regulations exist for that purpose:

To request a domain name, you should fill in the application form and send it to the CSIRC by fax or e-mail.

Short pieces of advice

  • Design your web sites using the present standards: XHTML+CSS
  • Check that your pages are displayed correctly in a browser compatible with the standards of W3C, such as Mozilla.
  • Use always open formats for the Exchange of files o, at least, provide an open alternative for documents that use proprietary format.
  • Avoid the use of opaque formats.
